Who benefits
Heartspring has had the honor of being one of the nation’s top facilities serving children with special needs for 75 years. Originating in Wichita, Heartspring has grown to help children across the nation and around the world. Our mission, in partnership with parents, professionals and the community, is to help children with special needs learn and grow on a path to a more independent life. Heartspring provides greater independence for children with disabilities through the Heartspring School, Heartspring Pediatric Services, the Heartspring Hearing Center, Heartspring World Reach and Heartspring Community of Autism Resources and Education (CARE) Program. Children with special needs make great strides towards greater independence every day through programs and services offered by Heartspring.
Thanks to local support of Heartspring events such as PedalFest, children with special needs in our community are receiving the therapies and tools to help them become the best and the most independent that they can be. Last year, Heartspring Pediatric Services met the outpatient therapy needs of over 700 children with developmental delays and disabilities. Although the majority of these children are from Wichita and the surrounding area, Pediatric Services clients also came from 30 counties and 73 cities across Kansas last year. The Financial Assistance Program, which is partially funded by PedalFest proceeds, distributed over $253,000 in discounted or free therapies to 149 of these families.
