 FAQ

Q.

What is included with my registration fee?

A.

All paid registrations (excludes Virtual Riders) include a PedalFest T-shirt, full route support during your ride, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and hydration at the Support and Gear (SAG) Stops, medical support, an invite to PedalFest Kickoff, and more! Participants in the 100K, 60K Gravel, 50K, and 25K, above the age of 21, will also receive two free beer garden tickets (must bring ID).

Q.

What is involved in participating in Pedalfest?

A.

To participate, riders will register for their selected routes. They will be encouraged to fundraise by asking friends, family, co-workers, or whoever to donate! Riders are welcomed to ride solo or create a team and ride together. A team can be two or more people, so gather your fellow cyclists and fundraise together! Top fundraising teams and riders will be recognized at PedalFest.

Q.

Can kids ride in PedalFest?

A.

You betcha! We have a 5K Family Ride that is specially designed for parents and their children. All participants MUST wear a helmet. For bicycle safety tips for kids: Click here.

Q.

How long do we have to finish the ride?

A.

You should match your skill level to the distance you plan on riding. If you average 12 mph, the 50K (31 mile) route will take you around three hours to finish, while the 100K (62 mile) route will take you six hours. If you average 18 mph, then it will take two and four hours, respectively. You can find a downloadable training schedule on our Rider Kit page. Remember, we have a crew that can bring you back to Heartspring if you cannot finish your route.

Note: route support will close at 12:30 p.m.

Q.

What happens if I get a flat, a chain breaks, etc.?

A.

It's a good idea to carry a spare tube and a pump or CO2. You can prepare for this by practicing changing a tire prior to the ride. But don't worry - there will also be mechanics on the route who can help you if needed.

Q.

What do I need to bring to ride?

A.

Always wear a helmet while riding. If visibility is limited, a flashing red light on the bike is a good idea. Having a bike mirror is very helpful in seeing behind you to keep you safe. Bike shorts and gloves are highly recommended for your comfort (you can thank us later). Bring two bottles; one with water and one with a sports drink to stay hydrated. You can bring your cellphone for emergencies -- never talk and ride. If you can, ride with your buddies. It's safer and more fun!

Q.

Can friends and family join me at the Post-Ride Celebration?

A.

Yes, we’d love to have them! If your friends or family would like to eat with you, lunch tickets will be available for sale at the event for those not registered ($5/each).
